Radon Test
Radon is a radioactive gas that has been found in homes all over the United States. It comes from the natural breakdown of uranium in soil, rock, and water and gets into the air you breathe. Radon typically moves up through the ground to the air above and into your home through cracks and other holes in the foundation. Radon is one of the leading causes of cancer and can be very dangerous in high levels. Our comprehensive test will give you peace of mind when buying your new home.
What you can do?
If a home's radon level is 4 pCi/L (picocuries per liter) or greater, the EPA advises that it be addressed. Additionally, even if your tested radon levels are under 4 pCi/L but over 2 pCi/L, you should think about renovating your home because there is no known safe threshold for radon exposure. You might hear advice to install a fan in your basement. That doesn't reduce the amount of radon gas; it only moves it around. You can also hear that all you need to do is open a window. But all of your heated, cooled, or conditioned air is lost at that point.
